Kolkata-based quick service restaurant (QSR) chain Wow! Momo is set to raise $8.5 million (around ₹71 crore) as part of its ongoing funding round, according to sources. The fresh capital is expected to help the company expand its footprint across India and strengthen its product innovation.
Founded in 2008 by Sagar Daryani and Binod Homagai, Wow! Momo has grown from a small kiosk in Kolkata to one of India’s fastest-growing food chains. The company operates three brands under its umbrella: Wow! Momo, Wow! China, and Wow! Chicken, offering fusion fast food that caters to Indian taste buds.
This funding comes at a time when India’s QSR sector is witnessing rapid growth, driven by increasing urban demand, affordability, and the rise of delivery platforms. Wow! Momo already has over 600 outlets across 35 cities, and the new funds will help it accelerate store launches, enhance supply chain efficiency, and expand digital delivery partnerships.
In its previous funding rounds, Wow! Momo attracted investments from Tiger Global, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Indian Angel Network. The brand, valued at over $400 million in its last round, is now gearing up to strengthen its leadership in the Indian QSR space against rivals like Domino’s, McDonald’s, and Rebel Foods.
If the round closes successfully, Wow! Momo will continue to be among the few Indian food startups consistently raising capital despite the challenging funding environment.
