Tata Motors may face a massive setback as its UK-based luxury car unit, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), continues to deal with the impact of a major cyberattack. The company has confirmed that production lines will remain halted until 1st October 2025, raising fears of a potential €2 billion (₹18,000 crore) loss.
The cyberattack, which hit JLR’s IT systems earlier this month, disrupted operations at multiple plants. As a result, manufacturing of popular models, including Range Rover and Jaguar SUVs, has come to a standstill.
Analysts warn that prolonged downtime could hurt JLR’s festive and year-end sales season, traditionally a strong revenue period. The company is now working with global cybersecurity experts to restore systems and strengthen defences.
A Tata Motors spokesperson said:
“We are actively working to resolve the situation and minimise the impact on our customers, dealers, and suppliers. Protecting our data and operations remains our top priority.”
This marks one of the most severe disruptions Tata Motors has faced in recent years. Experts believe the financial impact may extend beyond production losses, affecting supply chains, dealer networks, and customer deliveries worldwide.
