ICAI to Launch Its Own Large Language Model (LLM) by February 2026

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced plans to develop and launch its own Large Language Model (LLM) by February 2026. This initiative aims to support professionals and students in the accounting and finance sectors with AI-driven tools designed specifically for their needs.

According to ICAI officials, the move will position the institute among the first professional bodies in India to create a domain-specific AI model, focusing on taxation, auditing, financial reporting, and corporate laws.

The LLM will be trained on verified data from ICAI’s own publications, standards, and government sources, ensuring accuracy and compliance. It’s expected to assist chartered accountants with automated report drafting, regulation interpretation, and real-time query solving.

ICAI President CA Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal stated that this AI initiative aligns with India’s Digital India vision and the institute’s goal of enhancing tech literacy among finance professionals.

The organization is also exploring partnerships with Indian tech firms and academic institutions to ensure ethical AI practices and robust data protection standards.

Once launched, the ICAI LLM could significantly reduce research time, improve accuracy, and enhance productivity in the accounting ecosystem.
