CBSE to Introduce AI Education from Class 3 Starting 2025 | Early AI Learning Initiative

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a major update in its curriculum—Artificial Intelligence (AI) education will be introduced from Class III starting in 2025. This initiative aims to build early awareness and digital readiness among students as India strengthens its focus on technology-driven education.

According to CBSE officials, the new AI curriculum will focus on creative learning, problem-solving, and ethical use of AI. It will be designed in collaboration with industry experts and educational institutions, ensuring students gain practical and conceptual understanding from an early age.

The AI course will be age-appropriate and progressive:

  • Classes III–V: Basic introduction to AI concepts through fun activities, storytelling, and games.
  • Classes VI–VIII: Hands-on projects using simple AI tools and coding basics.
  • Classes IX–XII: Advanced topics like machine learning, data analysis, and real-world applications.

CBSE aims to make AI literacy as essential as math or science, ensuring students are ready for a rapidly evolving future where AI skills are in high demand.

This move aligns with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises digital learning and the development of 21st-century skills.

Officials have confirmed that teacher training programs and AI labs will also be introduced in CBSE schools to ensure smooth implementation.
